Early Times Report
Jammu, July 19: Editor Early Times, Munish Gupta who would be contesting forthcoming election from Gandhi Nagar Assembly Constituency as independent candidates, today visited Nanak Nagar's sector 7 and met people of all walks of life as part of his mass contact programme.
During his campaign at Lane no 10 to 16 and its adjoining markets, residents narrated their problems being faced by them and criticised the role of political leaders who represented the constituency from time to time. They alleged that before election, all of them made tall claims of providing basic civic amenities but after getting elected they not even visit of area to take of stock of amenities.
"The common problem that plagued the whole locality is that the sewerage nallah which flow between the Sector 7 and Sector 2A of Nanak Nagar and Trikuta Nagar extensional. In every monsoon season, the merely 10 minutes rains creates havoc like situation and the overflowing water gushed into their houses and destroying the their belongingness", said Balwant Kour and adding that our drains and lanes adjoining to nallah is in dilapidated condition and nobody come forward to repair them.
Chanchla Devi informed Munish Gupta that month back, the local corporator constructed our mohalla lane and abandoned in midway. When we asked him why he left the other portion of lane, he said that in next month, the remaining works would be started but ironically our lanes is yet to be tiled. "Drains are blocked, and no sanitation employee comes here to get cleaned them. We repeated complaints to civic authority either on telephonically or online but nothing has been happed so far" ,said Gulcharan Singh.
Amit Sharma residents of lane 10 said that since the independent candidate get elected from their ward. The problems of basic amenities are unaddressed. However, he before election made tall promises but not a single has been executed on ground level and it can be gauged from this fact that few days back the safaikaramchari came to unblock drains but the silt is not lift so far, resulting the filth making our lives miserable.
Rishi Kumar Goswami informed Munish Gupta that the PDD department had send electricity bill of month March and April is only Rs 23 but in the next month (June) the bill was Rs 1520. "Recording the increased bill, I contact to Sub Division Office Green Belt, the AEE deputed there denied to listening my pleas. " Most of meter installed outside the home have been gone kaput and the department concerned meter reader fixing flat rate which is not justifiable", he said.
"However, we requested to Chief Engineer PDD over increased bill but till date nobody have addressed my genuine problems", he said.
Amrit Kour said that irregular water supply makes our life miserable. Most of time when supply come, the electricity mostly off, which prevents water to reach the tail end.
