Early Times Report

BUDGAM, July 19: In the advanced age of science and technology many villages in Narbal block of Budgam district are in dilapidated conditions, due to which transporters and local masses suffer badly.
Sources said that people living in these villages are facing various difficulties like roads and transportation. There is no tap water, due to which the women folk have to fetch the contaminated water from stream and ponds in nearby of their houses.
The women folk in Archanderhamma Singhpora were seen fetching the water on shoulders from nearby streams and ponds, and that contaminated water could create a serious disease among the children, sources informed.
Bashir Ahmad of Arath said that their village has been left in no man's land, the political leaders have failed to resolve their problems. We don't have good motor-able roads, and the conditions of roads are in dilapidated conditions, he said.
"Many times in the past, we took brought matter into the notice of the department concerned; despite many requests the potholes were not filled nor the repair work was done on the dilapidated roads," said locals of Gutpora Narbal.
Locals said that, there are a number of potholes on it are further posing a serious threat, especially to those who ride two-wheelers and try to negotiate during night hours.
"It is a big problem for we people as we know that we don't have good roads and bridges here in our area, we have been always ignored for unwanted reasons, even though we took participation in the recently parliamentary elections," said Abdul Hamid.
There are scores of villages that get connected with Narbal block including Arath, Bungam, Batpora, Gutpora, Hardulalpora, Chewa, Daharmuna, Soibugh, Kawoosa, Kanihama and other adjacent areas.
The local said that few years back authorities had assured us that the small bridges would be completed within stipulated time, but the executing agency has failed to construct the bridge in Narbal and Arath, but the promises have remained on shelves so far.
"Concerned authorities of R&B should see the problems of common masses at the earliest so that we will not suffer in future; otherwise accidents will occur due to in-completion of roads, and bridges and other problems," said locals.
