Narotam exposes dubious character of top BJP leaders
Resolution on Maharaja Hari Singh's birthday
7/20/2019 12:43:09 AM
Early Times Report
Jammu, July 19: By forcing the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to declare holiday on 23 September-birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh, BJP corporator from ward number 3 Narotam Sharma has set an example for senior BJP leaders who had failed to implement resolution passed in the Legislative Council on January 24, 2017. Due to lust of power, the then BJP ministers in the coalition government headed by Mehbooba Mufti had shamelessly abandoned the resolution to enjoy power.
J&K Legislative Council had unanimously passed a "historical" resolution on January 24, 2017 to declare state holiday on September 23-the birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh. After enjoying power with PDP till June 2018, the BJP leadership had failed to convince its coalition partner to respect sentiments of the people of Jammu region.
On the very next day after passing of the resolution BJP was quick to take political mileage as the resolution was moved by its member Ajatshatru Singh, who happened to be the grandson of the last Dogra ruler. BJP had announced to get government's nod to Legislative Council's resolution in next cabinet meeting but nothing has happened so far.
Credible sources said that due to lust of power BJP leadership had never take up this issue seriously with PDP.
Issue was discussed in party's meetings number of times but response of the former ministers' was not encouraging.
Despite opposition by the government, Legislative Council on had passed a historic resolution for holiday on birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh, the last Dogra ruler of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir State. The historic resolution, first of its kind, was moved in the Upper House by BJP member Ajatshatru Singh, grandson of Maharaja.
