Insanitation, dilapidated roads irk residents of Nanak Nagar Sec-11

Jammu, July 20: BJP and Congress leaders' political rivalry has been adversely hampering the development of Nanak Nagar Sec-11 due to which the residents have been facing several civic amenities which remain unattended.
Continuing his mass contact programme, Munish Gupta, Editor Early Times, who would be contesting upcoming assembly elections as an independent candidate from Gandhi Nagar constituency met with the residents of Sec-11 of Nanak Nagar and informed them about his vision. The common problem which was highlighted by the residents was insanitation and dilapidated roads in the locality. The dilapidated roads have not been black topped since long due to which huge potholes have developed.
Criticising BJP and Congress for playing vote politics and ignoring genuine problems of the area, Surjeet Singh resident of Sec-11 said that most of the lanes are in dilapidated conditions, the drains are broken and choked which are not cleaned regularly.
"There are many stretches which are in total dilapidated conditions. We requested the local leaders for macadamisation but except assurances nothing has been done by them. In adjoining sectors, roads are in good condition but only this sector has been ignored," said Raj Kumar, Dalip Kumar, Kuldeep Kour.
Ritu Agarwal, resident of Sec-11 H.N. 79 said that it has been 2-3 year; the drains have not been cleaned due to which foul smell emanates. Moreover the drains have not been covered with grills which has reduces the width of lanes.
Raising issue of PDD electric poles, the residents accused the department of violation by passing High Tension Line from the lanes putting the lives of residents at risk. "High Tension Line has been passed through our lane which is against the rules. Not only this, PDD has installed two electric poles at one point. New poles were installed but the old were not removed and left them there as it is which has created mess in the area as wherever we seen only electric poles are seen. We asked the department to remove them and use them at another place where require but it turned blind eye towards our request," said Avtar Singh.
Meanwhile Manpreet Kour pointed the issue of defunct electric pole installed near her entrance gate. "The pole is inclined towards our gate which can fall any time and has been posing danger to the life of family members. Department was informed many a time about the problem but no action has been taken till date," she said. Pointing out the problem of garbage dumping on road, Rajpal Singh said that garbage bins should be installed so that residents can throw garbage into them. In absence of bins, the garbage remains scattered on the road presenting pathetic picture of the area. "Our area is also facing stay dogs menace, in the night. There are dozens of stray dogs which can be seen wandering and barking all the night and create nuisance. Concerned department was asked to lift them from the area but no action has been taken," said Goutam Singh, Parvinder Singh.
