Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, July 20: The promises by the previous regimes have remained on papers only, so the people remain with a hope that their difficulties will be resolved with utter most responsibility and tourist also feel hesitated to visit at SDH Tangmarag as the centrally located hospital on tourist place lacks basic facilities.
According to locals of Tangmarag area that they have been demanding for creation of consultants so that health care problem could be resolved once for all, according to them they need Consultant Surgeon, Orthopedic, Consultant Gynecologists and ophthalmologist.
There should be a team of consultants for round the clock, while as BMO should also remain available during day and night, so that poor patients will not suffer for want of treatment, said locals.
People alleges that, the present paramedical staff has not been transferred from past several years, and due to their long stay they are not performing their duties as they were supposed to perform, and favoritism has ruined the work culture SDH Tangmarag.mIf sources are to be believed they said that, orthopedic post is on papers only where as in reality he is working somewhere in Srinagar city from last five years, while as one orthopedics is visiting Gulmarag on regularly basis thus leaving the patient in Tangmarag to suffer. Mushtaq Ahmad, a social activist from Tangmarag said that, the centrally located hospital between Gulmarag and Magam is lacking of digital X-Ray plant which was need of the hour, and with the result people visits private clinics, said sources.
The investigation lab is almost defunct as without latest machines, examination of test is almost impossible, as there are decades old equipments in the lab, said Mushtaq.
He said that, SDH Tangmarag is on the Srinagar-Gulmarag road, and the emergency patients suffer due to want of night operation system, after which people are being shifted to Srinagar for advanced treatments.
However locals said that, Anesthetist is available but the anesthesia equipment were expired some months back, adding there is no blood bank facility, canteens are non functional. Many times we gave representation to the government, to create a permanent post of superintendent as earlier it was revoked by the higher authorities without taking the local masses into confidence, locals informed to ET. They believe that for the welfare of patients, fair price medical shop should be installed inside the premises of hospital, at most of the time, the hospital remained without essential drugs. Another local resident of Tangmarag area, Bashir Ahmad said that, from past several years' one hospital building is under construction as the government had committed with the people that the building will be completed by 2018.
