Sheikh Nagar area has no road, dilapidated lanes, drains

JAMMU, July 22: Criticising previous MLAs, the residents of the Sheikh Nagar Bahu Fort area have no road and basic civic amenities still seem a distant dream. They alleged that former MLAs have done nothing to improve their condition.
Vijay Kumar, Arti, Ravi, Sham Lal, Bunty, Rakesh, Devi Ditta Kartar Chand said that since the inception of this Colony by the Jammu Development Authority (JDA), no blacktopping work has been done in the area.
"You can see potholes everywhere, and dirty water logged in potholes but nothing has changed despite repeated attempts by the locals," they stated, adding that the bad condition of the road has caused many accidents.
Expressing concern and shock over the condition of roads here, they said that roads of the area are posing danger to life and property. They also claimed that they wrote a letter as well as met with concerned authorities including concerned former MLAs but all in vain.
In addition, the choked drains emanate foul smell and spreading numerous diseases and now that the rainy season has set in, the problem has been multiplied making for them by making difficult to live and breathe in the smelly environment.
They further added that the drains are not cleaned regularly due to which the drains are full with garbage and blocked resulting the water enter into the houses of the residents. Moreover no street light near their house were installed g. The residents of the area are being harassed by the concerned authority over a decade.
They alleged that MLAs who won elections have befooled the masses for their vote bank. And no development has taken place for last six years.
