DPS Nagbani organizes newspaper reading competition | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 24: To inculcate the habit of reading newspapers among the students, Delhi Public School Nagbani, Jammu-(West) organized a newspaper reading competition in the school in which students from class IV to IX participated enthusiastically showcasing their excellent skills of reading. This competition was held with a view to enhance the fact that reading is an integral part of student's learning experience. It is very useful tool for improving and enhancing the students' reading skills and knowledge of current affairs. Newspapers can help students to developed vocabulary for speaking skills also. Therefore to promote reading and to highlight the benefits and reward of reading, the students were made to understand that reading of newspapers is good and useful habit. It helps us to learn many things about our own country as well as around the world. It also widens our outlook as an essential feature of modern life. The students were assessed on the basis of articulation, intonation, presentation and clarity of voice. All the participants read the different sections of newspapers with proper confidence. At the end of the competition, the winners were given away the merit certificates by the Principal of the school R. K. Verma who said that reading Newspaper is a good habit that can provide a great sense of educational value. Newspapers not only enhance our knowledge about general information but also improve our language skills and vocabulary. |
