Army Jawan Martyred In Ceasefire Violation, 2 Pak Soldiers Killed In Retaliation
7/30/2019 7:03:10 PM

Srinagar
: Pakistani army violated the ceasefire for the third consecutive day today by resorting to firing and shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district. Pakistani Rangers in Rajouri, Tangdhar and Kupwara opened fire at around 1:30 pm this afternoon.

An Indian army jawan was killed while two civilians were injured in cross-border firing in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri. Indian soldiers retaliated strongly to the firing and have in return killed two Pakistani soldiers.

"The Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation along the LoC in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district today," Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Army Lt Col Devender Anand said.

He said the Indian Army responded strongly and effectively.

"Heavy damage to Pak Army posts and casualties to Pak soldiers have been inflicted by our troops", he added.

In the exchange of fire, Naik Krishan Lal (34) was killed. Lal hailed from Akhnoor district's Ghagriyal village. He is survived by his wife, Shashi Devi.

Some Pakistani army posts have suffered tremendous losses in India’s retaliation.

Reports say owing to Pakistani troops shelling forward areas and villages along the LoC in Tanghar area, villagers at the border have moved themselves to safer locations and schools in the region have been closed.
