Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 13: A prolonged wait of around 45 minutes by the ambulance to ferry a Special Police Officer (SPO) from Kathua hospital to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu (GMC&H), who was critical after a snake bite, cost his life as he breathed his last after reaching only Samba.
Sources informed Early Times that SPO Darshan of village Sadrota of tehsil Mahlar of district Kathua was deputed at Kharkara Morh Naka of Jammu and Kashmir Police. After finishing his routine duties on Monday night he went for sleep but after sometime he woke up and complained about some uneasiness, sources said, adding that his colleagues shifted him to Associated Medical College Kathua.
The doctors at Kathua hospital administered him first-aid but found his condition critical and referred him to GMC Jammu for specialised treatment. Sources said that after getting referral from the doctors, he had to be immediately shifted to GMC Jammu as his condition was deteriorating but due to some unknown reasons, the ambulance waited for over 45 minutes at the hospital.
Sources further disclosed that the driver of the ambulance was given directions from someone to wait and he was simply complying that and after wasting of precious 45 minutes, the ambulance got green signal to proceed for GMC Jammu. "The condition was very critical but after wastage of critical 45 minutes at Kathua, the possibilities of saving SPO had almost gone and when the ambulance reached Samba, the SPO had breathed his last", sources said, adding that if the precious time was not wasted the life of SPO would have been saved.
An enquiry must be ordered by the administration to know about the truth as a bread winner from a remote area of district Kathua had to sacrifice his life for wastage of time.
