KVIC registers record disbursement of Rs. 152.22 cr subsidy under PMEGP

JAMMU, Aug 14: In its endeavour to facilitate employment generation and encourage self reliance among the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Jammu has disbursed a record subsidy of Rs. 152.22 crore among 7529 beneficiaries generating employment for 60232 persons under PMEGP during 2018-19.
As per a handout issued by the concerned authorities, the state office KVIC Jammu has created a world record of distributing 2330 Bee Boxes among 233 Bee Keepers of Kupwara, Ganderbal and Pulwama in a single day and a total of 3320 Bee Boxes have distributed during 2018-19. In addition, about 100 New Model Charkhas and 20 Looms have been provided to spinners and weavers through LAHDC, Leh to help local artisans increase their earnings by 2-3 times. Besides, 360 Electric Potter Wheels have been distributed among traditional potters throughout the State of J&K.
During 2018-19, production of Rs. 52.98 crore and sales worth Rs. 53.14 crore was achieved by the Khadi Institutions of J&K. Chairman, KVIC Vinai Kumar Saxsena appreciated the cooperation and support extended by the State Government towards effective implementation of various schemes of the Commission in J&K State. Pertinently, KVIC is implementing various schemes including MPDA on Khadi and Polyvastra, Interest Subsidy Eligibility Certificate (ISEC), Workshed scheme for Khadi artisans, Strengthening of Infrastructure of Existing 'Weak Khadi Institutions and Assistance for Marketing Infrastructure, Aam Admi Bima Yojana (AABY) for Khadi Artisans, Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Khadi Reform Development Programme (KRDP) With ADB Assistance, Scheme of Funds for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI), Honey Mission, Pottery Programme (Kumhar Sashaktikaran) and Mochi Mission.
