NNK concludes month long actors' training workshop

Jammu, Aug 14: Natraj Natya Kunj, Cultural Society, Jammu (regd.) today concluded the month long actors training workshop with five back to back shows of the play 'Ripped' at NNK studio Bakshi Nagar Jammu.
Based on the poem 'Sabse Khatarnaak' by Punjabi poet Avtar Singh 'Pash' this play is prepared in one month long actors' training workshop, is designed by Aaditya Bharti, an alumnus of Department of Indian Theatre Panjab University Chandigarh and is directed by Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Abhishek Bharti.
The artistic talent of the students was improvised by the attending consultant and resource persons namely Padma Shri Balwant Thakur, Kumar .A. 'Bharti', famous singer Surinder Manhas, folk artist Gharu Ram and R.C. Mangotra, interacted with the students and shared their knowledge of Theatre to the young and energetic artists of the group.
Balwant Thakur in his interaction session said, "Strong efforts should be made to change the typical thinking of youths about the Dramatics and to make them aware about the reality and richness of this field so that it can be pursued as a career option".
While speaking on the closing ceremony Vice President Rakesh Dogra said that the main objective of the workshop is to hunt talent of students and enable them to showcase in bigger platform which is necessary.
The closing function was marked by showcase of one-hour multilingual Play 'Ripped' by the participants of the workshop, which was based on the form of Theatre of the Oppressed. The play was a mirror to the society and a presentation of how people be wearing blinkers to avoid the reality. Director of the play Abhishek Bharti had delved deep into the profound depth of the poetry of Pash for this experimental and vivid dramatisation
Actors who acted in the play include Tejan Bharti, Arun Bral, Manpreet Kaur, Chanda Pandey, Ritik Mahajan, Daksh sagoch, Shivam Chib, Vaibhav Sagoch, Pratham Sharma.
