Normalcy returns in Kishtwar-Doda, schools to open today

JAMMU, Aug 18: After two weeks of Curfew and restrictions in Kishtwar District following the scrapping of Article 370 and 35 A of the constitution, the schools and others government offices in Kishtwar District will start functioning from tomorrow.
As per the details available with Early Times, after lifting the restrictions and curfew yesterday, the shops and business establishments in the twin Districts of Doda and Kishtwar Districts opened in full strength since last two days while the schools and colleges along with other Government offices remain closed, however same will open from Monday as per routine.
Keeping in view of the opening of the market and opening of schools, heavy security deployment has been put into place to thwart any untoward incident.
Due to non availability of mobile calling services which is yet to be restored in Doda and Kishtwar Districts, heavy rush of people has been witnessed outside the shops with landline calling facilities and many shopkeepers concerted there landline numbers into PCO/STD booths and according to the reports some people are charging Rs. 10 per minute call and has minted thousands of rupees from the poor people who are worried about the safety and we'll being of their relatives settled outside the home or the students studying outside the newly established union territory.
Many security personnel who are on law and order duty were also seen standing in lines to call back home. Despite assurances at the highest level, the mobile calling service is yet to be restored in Kishtwar and Doda Districts despite the fact that both the Districts remain peaceful during the last two weeks of uncertainty in the District.
The people told the Early Times that government should immediately restore the mobile calling services so that they could connect with their dear ones which will ultimately bring Relief to the people settled in different parts of the country.
Meanwhile, police and administration are continuously warning the rumour mongers against spreading fake news.
