Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 19: Youth Congress, J&K, on Monday staged protest against the detention of mainstream political leaders of Jammu, terming it as unfortunate and undemocratic. Led by Uday Chib, State President PYC, the Congress activists assembled near Plaoura area of Jammu city and raised slogans in support of their demands.
Talking to reporters here, Chib said that Congress has always played vital role for betterment of people of the country in general and Jammu and Kashmir in particular. He said that Congress leadership always rose to the occasion but it is sad that by arresting JKPCC Chief GA Mir and Raman Bhalla along with other party senior leaders, the BJP Government has sent a wrong signal down below. He also strongly condemned the action of the administration to arrest PCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma alongwith PCC Secretary Neeraj Gupta from the Congress Headquarters Jammu when he was about to have media briefing at the party headquarters. Chib asserted said that the government is making tall claims that everything in the State is normal. If their claim is true, they must release all mainstream political leaders immediately otherwise their claim shall prove to be wrong and hollow, he added. He asserted that the government has no moral right to deprive a citizen of his liberty, even one moment without the authority of law. "It as an undeclared emergency imposed in the state without any justification," he said, adding that the government on one hand is claiming total normalcy in the state, but on the other hand detentions are taking place even in Jammu. Emphasising upon the need of releasing all mainstream political leaders in the interest of the state and nation, Chib asked the government to initiate dialogue with all stakeholders for restoring peace at the earliest. Ricky Dalotra PYC Gen Secretary and Anirudh Sawhney AYC President Jammu West and Sunny Jatt AYC President Raipur Domana also spoke on the occasion.
Among those who joined the protest include Sunny Parihar, Manav Choudhary DYC Gen Secretary, Karun Nargotra, Suresh Kumar, Tarun Vaid, Tushar Kumar.
