Jammu, Aug 19: A rumour monger for spreading rumours on social media which triggered panic thus forcing the district administration to snap the 2G mobile internet service was arrested today by Jammu Police .
According to reports the arrested person on Sunday spread a rumour that there is a war like situation along the borders and petrol pumps will be shut following which panic gripped the people and they rushed to the filling stations.
"After panic gripped the city, we lodged an FIR and started the investigation," senior police official here told reporters.He said that reverse analysis was conducted and during course of investigation, one person identified as Jashveer Singh alias Badshah alias Don of Khour was arrested.
The official on the occasion appealed to the public that if there is any information, which can create panic must be shared responsibly. "If anybody shares or forwards any information without verifying it and which further triggers creates panic, will also face action," he added. |
