Jammu, Aug 20: Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Leh organized a farmers' mobilization cum field day programme at village Chemday in Kharu block of Leh district. A team of scientists from KVK-Leh visited the farmer's fields to have a face to face interaction with the farming community on their fields. The team also had a firsthand assessment of the problems faced by them. The team visited various Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) laid out at farmer's fields. Dr. Kunzang Lamo, Subject Matter Specialist (Vegetables) briefed them about various issues related to vegetable production. She told the farmers about the importance of protected cultivation in this region and asked them to go for technologies like mulching, low tunnels, green houses and trenches for off season cultivation of vegetables also. On this occasion as a part of the KVK-Leh farmer mobilization programme, two Women Farmer Clubs were also formed at village Chemday. Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Parveen Kumar Subject Matter Specialist (Ag. Extension) said that such clubs will be linked with the banks so that they can receive financial assistance from banks under different schemes of the government. This assistance can be used by the club members for various self employment activities. |
