Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 20: Welcoming the abrogation of Art-370, Deputy Inspector General (Retd) Vijay Singh Sambyal has claimed that scrapping of archaic Article 370 will end the age old discrimination with the people of Jammu and Ladakh.
Addressing a press conference here today, the retired DIG Mr Sambyal hailed the landmark decision by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to Abrogate Article 370 and added that the Kashmiri bureaucrats and politicians has seen it only as positive that too for their vested interests.
Disclosing that he has been a victim of this special provision to J&K, Mr Sambyal said, "In the year 1994, I passed the examination of Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS). Despite being better in both the written examinations (Preliminary and mains) conducted by the nodal examination authorities but during the interview/vice-vova, the Public Service Commission (PSC) reduced his enthusiasm by giving his barely 54 out of total 250."
Alleging high nepotism and favoritism in alleged recruitment, DIG (Retd) Mr Sambyal said, "To his surprise his counterparts from Kashmir region were given 210-220 marks who inspite of low ranking in preliminary and main found themselves in top positions
Though he got selected as a KPS officer in the police department but he has experienced odds at the hands of Kashmir-centric leaders and officials who often discriminate against officials from Jammu region.
He added that I hope this ensures Jammu and Kashmir to become the part of our great nation's collective growth.
He hoped that after abrogation of Article370, the Jammu people will get equal opportunities to get up jobs or establish business and soon region will get a separate statehood which usher a new era of development in region.
