Div Com discusses arrangements for Katra Navratra Festival-2019

REASI, Aug 20: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma today discussed arrangements for annual Navratra Festival-2019 here at Katra.
Chairing a meeting attended by government officials and representatives of organizing committees, the Div Com to underlined the need to make the annual Navratra Festival a stellar affair of unprecedented scale.
The proposed programmes including religious congregations like Prabhat Pheris, ShobhaYatra, recitation of Mata ki Kahani, Devotional Song Competition and cultural items were discussed.
The Div Com directed for constituting of committees at the earliest for successful conduct of the activities associated with the festival. The Div Com was briefed about the details of programme. He asked the organizers to give wide publicity to the event through tourism shows and media to attract maximum visitors from across the country and abroad.
The issues like beautification of the town, upgrading sanitation, essential provisions, traffic management and emergency services were discussed by the Divisional Commissioner.
It was informed that Navratra Festival will be inaugurated on September 29 and continue till October 7. The meeting was attended by DC Reasi Indu Kanwal Chib, CEO Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Simrandeep Singh, SSP Reasi, Rashmi Wazir; ADC Reasi, Rajinder Sharma, elected representatives of Katra Municipal Committee and members of Hoteliers Association and other officers from various departments. Meanwhile, the Div Com met with representatives of Katra Municipal Committee and locals in which the ambitious project of upgradation of Katra Main Bazaar was discussed.
Construction of sewage-drainage lines, laying of water supply pipes and electricity cables were discussed in the meeting. The different stages of execution of the project were also discussed.
The Div Com maintained that the work should be carried out in a manner that the local businesses are least affected.
The meeting was attended by DC Reasi, SDM Katra, Ashok Kumar, Dy SP Vivek Shekhar among other district officers.
