House arrest of leaders attempt to gag voice of opposition: Indu Pawar

Jammu, Aug 21: Activists of Mahila Congress on Wednesday held demonstration at Jammu against illegal detention of party leaders. Activists shouted slogans against BJP led NDA government at the Centre for stifling voice of opposition parties. Mahila Congress expressed their anguish over illegal detention of P.C.C Chief G.A Mir, Ravinder Sharma Chief Spokesperson of the Party & Indu Pawar President Pradesh Mahila Congress J&K State & so many other senior leaders for the last 10 days without any reason. They said that by placing house arrest of leaders, local authorities are indulging in gagging voice of opposition parties. They said that party leaders are never indulged in breaching peace so there is no reason to place them under house arrest. They demanded immediate release of all the leaders who are under arrest because they have to seek permission for taking every step out of their homes. Mahila Congress activists vowed that they were not going to be intimidated by the dictatorial attitude of the present dispensation. They further regretted that authorities have made mockery of democracy by not allowing main opposition party to continue its activities as a political party but Mahila Congress activists asserted that they were going to intensify campaign to save democracy in J&K. Amid shouting of slogans against BJP government at the Centre, Mahila Congress activists regretted that all democratic institutions have been bulldozed by the present regime.
