DDC reviews formulation of MGNREGA convergence plan

KATHUA, Aug 21: District Development Commissioner, Dr. Raghav Langer today chaired a meeting of officers to review the Action Plan of MGNREGA in convergence with other schemes here at a meeting.
Dr. Langer held separate and detailed discussions with each concerned department about their proposed works in convergence with MGNREGA for the current fiscal year.
He exhorted upon the officers of Horticulture, Sericulture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, Education and other departments to work in tandem with the Rural Development for providing employment as well as creating valuable assets in the district.
The ACD informed that a total of 7683 works estimated at Rs. 118 Crore have been identified for execution during 2019-20 in convergence with MGNREGA . He further informed that Rs. 52 Crore under 14 FC has been credited directly in the account of Panchayats for development works and seek work wise administrative approval from the District Development Commissioner.
The DDC sought fund allocation of the previous years and directed all the BDOs to give status of IHHL in their areas.
He said water conservation works development of playfields in schools and village lands, Vermicompost/dry leave compost units, Solid waste management, water harvesting, maintenance of Irrigation channels and community toilets in villages be given priority under 14 FC.
The DDC also directed the DFOs to provide timber to the PMAY beneficiaries of hilly and far flung areas of the district. Besides, he directed the officials of IWMP to revisit their proposal and ensure that the works are executed under overall supervision of the Sarpanch of the village.
The DDC also discussed the specifications and focus areas to be considered while formulating the convergence plan and told the departments to work in coordination and exchange the technical expertise to propose the best convergence plan for the district.
ACD, Sukhpal Singh, CPO, Uttam Singh, CEO, Prem Nath, DFOs, CAO, SDAOs, PO IWMP, DAHO, Asstt. Soil Conservation Officer, Engineers, BDOs and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
