8/21/2019 10:54:29 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 21: Sangathan Ex-Servicemen Wing of DSSP (Regd), supported by Women Wing of the party on the invitation of Col J P Singh, Chairman of ESM Cell and Cell Convener Brig Vijay Sagar to deliberate upon probability of indiscriminate exploitation of Jammu's rich and abundant natural resources including forests & their produce, rivers, mines and minerals, at the behest of local mafia thereby damaging ecology of the region beyond redemption. Since Jammu & Kashmir falls in the category of Himalayan States, both Cells felt that forests of Jammu region deserves constitutional safeguards for their conservation like all other Himalayan States. Hence the govt of India should initiate process to prevent their indiscriminate exploitation reiterated both the Wings.
It demanded ban on sale/purchase of agriculture land and the routine land use under the garb of development till a formal land use plan of Jammu region is made in consultations with local representatives. They demanded total ban on agriculture land transfer producing globally popular 'Basmati Rice of Jammu' which only can save it from extinction. They also deliberated upon growing un-employment of local Youth in J&K and demanded immunity against outsiders entry in the govt jobs. Both Wings demanded immediate restoration of 'Dogra Certificate' enabling Dogra Youth traditional concessions in enrolment in Defence Forces & Central Security Forces. Growing anguish among the party rank and file over prolonged detention of 'Dogra Leaders' also came up for discussion. Both the wings supported their early release reiterating that all of them have welcomed abrogation of contentious Articles 370 & 35-A. They should instead be involved in restoration of peace and normalcy in J&K.
