LeT militant killed in Baramulla encounter

Baramulla, Aug 21: After two weeks of silence of guns, a militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Ganie-Haram area of District Baramulla on Wednesday, while as a SPO Bilal Ahmad was killed, and Sub Inspector Amardeep Parihar was injured during the encounter. The encounter is first after the removal of amendment of Article 370, which used to give special status to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
A police spokesperson said that search operation was launched in Ganie-Haram area of District Baramulla. During the search operation, the hiding terrorists fired on the search party. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter. He added, in the exchange of fire two policemen sustained injuries identified a SPO Bilal Ahmed and SI Amardeep Parihar. SPO Bilal Ahmad succumbed to the injuries and attained martyrdom while SI Amardeep Parihar continues to receive treatment at the Army hospital. He further said in the ensuing encounter, one terrorist was killed and was identified as Momin Gojri of Syed Kareem Baramulla. The killed terrorist was affiliated with proscribed terror outfit LeT and was wanted by the law for his complicity in a series of terror crimes.
As per the police records, he was involved in planning and executing several terror attacks in the area and many other civilian atrocities. And, several terror crime cases were registered against him. Further, incriminating material including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. All these materials have been taken in the case records for the purpose of investigation.
To pay homage to martyr Bilal Ahmad, who was martyred in an encounter with militants at Gani Hamam area of Baramulla. A wreath laying ceremony was held at District Police Lines Baramulla. Civil and Police Officer led DGP J&K Police Dilbagh Singh and other police officer laid floral wreaths on the mortal remains and paid rich tributes to martyr.
