Navin reviews preparedness for tourism promotional campaign

SRINAGAR, Aug 22: Principal Secretary Tourism Navin K Choudhary Thursday convened a review meeting here at Directorate Office for the resumption of the tourism promotional campaigns to attract tourists for upcoming winter months.
Director Tourism Kashmir Nisar Ahmad Wani, MD JKTDC Asgar Hussain Khan, MD/CEO J&K Golf Development Authority Ghalib Mohiduddin Shah, Joint Director Tourism Dr. Fayaz A Banday, Deputy Director Enforcement Amarjit Singh, Deputy Director Publicity Riyaz Ahmad Shah, Deputy Director Recreation Sarfaraz Mohammad, Assistant Director Publicity Javed-ur-Rehman and other concerned attended the meeting.
While asking the Director Tourism to keep comprehensive publicity material ready, Choudhary emphasized on launching aggressive marketing campaign in print and electronic media during current months at national level to attract more and more tourists.
He also stressed on tapping Central Government employees through Leave Travel Concession (LTC) scheme particularly air travel applicable to Kashmir.
"LTC of central government employees is a huge market for J&K and need is to customize the package for them so that they are attracted to our beautiful locations for holidaying along with their families," he added.
The Principal Secretary also directed MD JKTDC to renovate the huts at prime locations so that these can be kept ready for next tourism season for the travellers. He also advised him to see the viability of resuming Jhelum cruise transport for the locals.
On the occasion, Director Tourism informed the Principal Secretary that promotional materials of all the tourism products are ready which can be used to highlight the tourism potential of J&K.
