Jammu, Aug 22: Reacting sharply over the detention of political leaders Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MP Nazir Ahmad Laway said that the detention of mainstream political leaders including three former Chief Ministers and other leaders is against the democracy and demanded that such political prisoners shall be released immediately.
Nazir Ahmad Laway has strongly criticized the continued house arrest of PDP leader Parvez Waffa and some other mainstream leaders in Jammu also without any justified cause.
He said that the Centre has decided the fate of the people of state without taking the consent of the people.
He questioned the government over their act asking what kind of democratic step is this when all mainstream political leaders have been under arrest? He said that the news from Jammu is also coming where our senior leaders and office bearers have been placed under house arrest. Asking if the situation in Jammu is peaceful then why such leaders have been arrested.
Laway also said that the people in Kashmir Valley are facing lot of inconvenience from the unreasonable restrictions imposed by the government.
There is a complete communication blackout from past 16 days. The people are worried about the well being of their nears and dears, some don't have even the whereabouts of their kiths and kins. The people are facing a lot of difficulties.
