DC Jammu reviews progress on languishing projects

JAMMU, Aug 22: Deputy Commissioner, Sushma Chauhan today reviewed the status of the languishing projects approved by Jammu & Kashmir Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation (JKIDFC) here at a meeting of line departments.
She took stock of the progress made on each project approved under the languishing category.
The meeting was attended by Superintending Engineers of EM&RE Circle, PWD(R&B), System and Operations, Hydraulic Division, Sewerage and Drainage, General Manager DIC, Chief Planning Officer, Engineers from Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society, Ground Water Division, PDD besides senior officers of all concerned departments.
The DC took scheme-wise physical and financial review of progress on projects undertaken by different departments and funded under the languishing project scheme in the district. She also reviewed the technical sanctioning, administrative approval and tendering progress of several projects. The meeting was informed that an amount of Rs 594.52 crore has been approved in aggregate for 505 languishing projects in Power Sector, PHE, R&B, Health, Industries, Irrigation & Flood Control, Youth Services & Sports, Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex, ISM, Sewerage and Drainage and others.
Taking sector wise review, the meeting was informed that 55 roads, 11 bridges and 29 PHE works will be completed in this financial year. Ground Water Division has completed 68 projects whereas SICOP has completed 2 works out of 7 till date.
The DDC directed the executing agencies to ensure that allotment process of all the projects is finalized by ending this month. She impressed upon the executing agencies to complete the projects within the set deadline and ensure that transparency is maintained in the execution. She directed the executing agencies to upload 25 percent of physical progress of the work be on the portal of JKIDFC portal.
The meeting also discussed the challenges faced by the Departments in implementation of certain projects.
She directed the concerned departments to prepare the estimated cost for the shifting of public utilities hindering the execution and furnish the same to the executing agencies.
