Establish Muharram joint control rooms in all districts: Div Com to DCs

SRINAGAR, Aug 23: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan today directed all Deputy Commissioners of the Kashmir division to establish Muharram joint control rooms so that all possible facilities are extended to the devotees to observe the occasion.
The Divisional Commissioner passed these directions at a meeting he chaired to review arrangements for observance of ensuing Muharram-ul-Harram across the valley.
Threadbare discussions were held which include foolproof arrangements, route, medical, Magistracy plans and other necessary arrangements in the meeting. The Divisional Commissioner directed all Deputy Commissioners to properly sanitize route plan, personally inspect all procession locations and ensure basic amenities to the people. He also directed the DCs to hold separate meetings with local Shia Anjumans and welfare committees for ground level feedback.
He also directed to set up medical camps at all Imambaras with proper paramedical staff, doctors, medicines, and ambulances.
Besides, he also directed the concerned to conduct electricity audit in Shia dominated areas and repair all street lights leading to main worship places. The Divisional Commissioner said that all Imambaras and procession routes should be illuminated besides Gensets be deployed to all Imambaras. R&B Department was asked to ensure repairing work on all roads, lanes and by-lanes in Shia areas within a week.
The officers were also directed to workout traffic management and mobility plan of Muharram with Traffic Police and RTO Kashmir besides requirement of adequate transport services after the culmination of the Muharram procession was also directed.
It was said that PHE will deploy 47 water tankers besides install 5000 litres capacity water tanks at all Imambaras.
For ensuring proper cleanliness measures, SMC and Municipal Committees were asked to deploy dedicated sanitation team to all Imambaras.
The Divisional Commissioner asked concerned officers to work in close coordination for the hassle-free observance of Muharram across the valley.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal, Director Health Services, Chief Engineers of PDD, PHE & R&B, GM JKSRTC, RTO Kashmir, SSP Traffic, SSP Security, Commissioner SMC, VC LAWDA, Joint Director Information Abid Hussain, Deputy Directors of FCS&CA, Fire and Emergency Services and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
The Deputy Commissioners of other valley districts participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
