Mining Deptt imposes Rs 5 cr fine on stone crushers

Kathua, Aug 23 : Aimed at to ensure strict enforcement of J&K Minor Minerals Concession, Storage, Transportation of Minerals and Prevention of Illegal Mining rules in the district, the District Mining Department has imposed a fine worth Rs. 5 crore on three stone crushers for illegal storage and consumption of raw and furnished material.
Pertinently, the defaulter stone crusher units were earlier inspected by a team comprising officers and officials of Flood Control, PWD, Revenue, Block Development Office, Police department and Geology and Mining Department constituted by the Deputy Commissioner found that these stone crushers have illegally stored/dumped huge quantity of Minor Minerals in the premises of their units in sheer violation of the J&K Minor Mineral concession Storage, Transportation of Minerals, Prevention of Illegal mining rules, provisions of SRO 105 and SRO 302.
Accordingly, notices were served to them and fine was imposed on M/s Shiv Baba Stone Crusher, Village Logate (Sahar Khad) amounting Rs. 72.24 lakh, Rs. 80.50 lakh on M/s Magnum Stone Crusher, Village Pandori of tehsil Nagri while fine worth Rs. 3.42 crore was imposed on M/s S K Stone Crusher located at village Pandori of tehsil Nagri.
These crusher units are directed to deposit the fine at the office of District Mineral Office within next 7 days and produce relevant sale-purchase record of their respective units in the office of Deputy Commissioner within 3 days from the date of issuance of the notices. Failing which strict action under rules shall be initiated against the defaulters.
