Udhampur, Sep 3: Government College for Women Udhampur organized an awareness rally on umbrella issues pertaining to the social and environmental health of the society in the contemporary scenario. The rally was flagged off by Prof. Subhash Chander, Principal GCW Udhampur in the presence of senior most faculty members. The rally was escorted by Prof. Swarna Bhougal, Prof. Sumita Rao, Prof. Suneel Singh Barheyan, Sudesh Kumar, Prof. Sarita Dogra, Prof. Roopa Kumari, Dr. Shaveta Sharma. The route of the rally was from GCW Udhampur-Mini bus stand chowk (Sailain Talab)- Chabutra Bazar-Bhagat Singh park (Culminating point). Specifically, the topic of the rally was solid waste management, non use of single use plastic material and water conservation. The message of the rally was to reduce the use of plastic bags & to keep our surroundings clean by not littering the waste material in open as well as to conserve drinking-water for our better future. In the Bhagat Singh park, a pledge was also taken to save our Environment by making our surroundings clean & green, by saving drinking water & by not using plastic bags. Principal of the college, Prof. Subhash Chander in his speech on the occasion, exhorted upon the importance of organizing such programmes in our society which can aware the people regarding the the current environmental hazards & also the ways alternatives to reduce them. |
