Police and SPOs too are to be beneficiary of new salary slab
9/3/2019 10:09:23 PM
The state Government on the initiative of the central Government, has initiated various schemes to tone up the police and the SPOs. This move has been taken to keep the police and the SPO's in high spirits. Over the years the Government, both the state administration and the central Governments, have come to realise that in curbing activities of militants the role of the police is important. And that of the SPO who provide security to political leaders and other senior Government officers have their importance. These SPOs provide a security cover to separatists and other politicians who do not belong to the mainstream
The State Administrative Council which met here under the Chairmanship of Governor Satya Pal Malik approved increase in the honorarium to be paid to Special Police Officers (SPOs) of the State. It is learnt with the support of Government of India, the SAC approved an increase in the honorarium of SPOs of J&K Police according to which SPOs who have less than three years of service would now be paid a monthly remuneration of Rs 6,000, while those who have completed three years of service would be paid Rs 9,000 per month. Whereas, the SPOs who have completed five and 10 years of service would be paid Rs 12,000 and Rs 15,000 per month respectively. Those who have completed 15 years of service would now be paid Rs 18,000 per month. The huge jump in honorarium will benefit over 30,000 SPOs of Jammu and Kashmir Police in the State
This way the Government has made SPOs job lucrative and more and more able bodied youth may join the SPOs ranks. And by increasing the payscale of the SPOs it has become compatible with the police and there is no need for securing jobs in the police. It is learnt that SPOs have important field sources who can be utilised during the encounters between the militants and the security forces and the police can play its role effectively by passing on the information about their hideouts of militants. And if all goes well it seems that after the release of arrested separatists and mainstream politicians there could be a problem of stone throwers against the police an d the paramilitary forces. And to check killing of these stone throwers proper information could be arrested and hence the killing which is described as human rights violations would end.
