New power projects worth Rs 270 Cr underway in Srinagar

Srinagar, Sept 4: Six new projects worth Rs270 crore aimed at strengthening of power infrastructure and improving the power scenario have been initiated in Srinagar.
This was informed in a meeting convened here Wednesday under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary.
The meeting was informed that the said projects include 160MVA, 220/33KV Harwan at a cost of Rs 68.08 crore, LILO of 220KV Alusteng-New Wanpoh TL feeding Harwan GIS at Rs 7.29 crore, 100 MVA, 132/33KV GIS Khanyar (Bagh-e-Ali Mardan) at Rs 46.42 crore, 132KV TL Waganpora to Bagh-e-Ali Mardan at Rs 71.67 crore, 150MVA 132/33KV GIS Tengpora at Rs 53.82 crore and LILO of 132 KV Bemina-Budgam at GIS Tengpora using power cabling at Rs 20.47 crore.
It was told that contracts for all six of these projects have been awarded adding that required land for most of these projects has been acquired and handed over. It was said that in two of these cases the acquisition process of the required land is under process.
The DC while speaking on the occasion said that these new infrastructural projects will significantly improve the power scenario in the capital district. He said the aim of the district administration will be to complete these projects as soon as possible.
ADC Srinagar Kuldeep Krishan Sidha, JD Planning M Yaseen Lone and concerned officers attended the meeting.
