Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Sept 4: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary Wednesday visited the Parimpora fruit mandi and took stock of preparations for its operationalisation from September 10.
He along with the Director Horticulture Kashmir Aijaz A Bhat inspected the facilities at the fruit mandi and also interacted with the local traders.
The visit comes in the wake of the J&K administration roping in the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India or NAFED Limited which will procure over half of apple produce of the state which will benefit more than seven lakh apple growers.
The DC while speaking on the occasion said procurement by NAFED will help bring greater value for every single fruit adding that transportation hassles will also get removed. He said farmers will get additional income adding that payments will be hassle-free involving direct transfer to bank accounts.
On the occasion the J&K Horticulture Planning & Marketing Board was asked to provide office space and procurement platforms to NAFED. Concerned departments were asked to provide uninterrupted power and water supplies to the mandi.
JD Planning Srinagar M Yaseen Lone, Dy Director JKHPMB Manzoor Ahmed, SDM West, SE PWD, ExEn PDD, ExEn Drainage Division and other officers accompanied the DC on the occasion.
