Symposium on prevention of drug abuse held

JAMMU, Sept 4: The Cultural Wing, Department of Information & Public Relations, Jammu organized a symposium cum Cultural Programme on the topic "Prevention of drug abuse" here at Government Girls Model Higher Secondary School, Kandoli Nagrota here today.
Principal of the host school, Mrs. Tahira Parveen Shawl was the chief guest while Project Head, Bhartiya Foundation J&K, Ravi Bhat was the guest of honour on the occasion.
About 8 students of host school participated in the contest and expressed their views on the topic.
In the symposium, Anmol of class 11th student clinched first position while Amit Sharma student of 11th class and Suksham Sharma student of class 12th secured second and third position respectively. While speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest lauded the efforts of the department in organizing the event of great importance. She said that the contest has enabled the students to exhibit their talent on a common platform which would help in building self-confidence among them. She urged for more such programmes in educational institutions for the general awareness of youngsters. Ravi Bhat also threw light on the topic and urged the students to come forward to disseminate awareness among the common masses.
Later, artists of Cultural Wing, DIPR's and local artists presented a scintillating cultural programme and multi lingual Kavi Ghosti based on drug abuse and rich folk culture which was highly applauded by the audience.
Manju Sharma, Raj Kumar and Neeru Jasrotia acted as judge in the contest. Prizes were also given among the winners.
The proceedings of the programme was conducted by Senior Artist, Suresh Kumar.
Among others, Drama Instructor, Vijay Anand, senior artists of Information Department, Staff Members and large number of students were present on the occasion.
