Govt sanctions Rs 121 Cr under ‘Back to Village’ prog

SRINAGAR, SPETEMBER 05: The Government today accorded sanction to the authorization of Rs 121 crore through BEAMS to Divisional Commissioners of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh divisions and District Development Commissioners to undertake works identified under ‘Back to Village’ programme.

According to the order issued by Financial Commissioner Finance, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, Rs 5 crore each to Divisional Commissioners of Kashmir/Jammu divisions and Rs 1 crore to Divisional Commissioner Ladakh besides Rs 5 crore each to 22 District Development Commissioners have been authorised for undertaking works identified in respective Panchayat Halqas of their district in respect of demands raised during ‘Back to Village’ programme.

The order said that the funds authorized to Divisional Commissioner Ladakh shall be operated amounting to Rs 0.50 lakh each through District Development Commissioners Leh and Kargil respectively.

The District Development Commissioner of each district shall identify high priority works with due impact and high visibility to be implemented as part of ‘Back to Village’ programme in convergence with other schemes on the basis of reports finalized by officers during their visit, the order said.

“The list of identified works shall be furnished by Divisional Commissioner Jammu/Kashmir and each District Development Commissioner to the Finance Department within a period of 15 days and only such works shall be taken which can be completed during current financial year,” reads the order.

Further it said that the Planning, Development and Monitoring Division shall evaluate 5% of work selected on random basis within two months from the issuance of the order.
