9/5/2019 10:32:57 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 5: BJP State Spokesperson Dr Tahir Choudhary today submitted a memorandum to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and demanded establishment of Gujjar Task Force to utilize services of patriotic nomadic community to serve the nation.
BJP State Spokesperson Dr Tahir Choudhary said "We strongly condemn terrorist attack on two members of the nomadic Gujjar community in a forested area in Pulwama district. Both the community members have attained martyrdom in this terror attack."
In a memorandum to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Dr Tahir Choudhary submitted that Gujjar community has historically been discriminated and looked down upon by Kashmiri politician and parties for centuries.
"The regional parties like National Conference (NC), People's Democratic Party (PDP) cheated this community for several years for the sake votes. Since emergence of terrorism, nomadic community is soft target of terrorists as Gujjars and Bakerwals live in remotest areas with the cattle," Dr Tahir Choudhary informed Union Home Minister.
Choudhary said that the nomads were pushed into poverty, backwardness and economic helplessness with a conspiracy by their representatives to keep their vote bank intact.
"The combined effect of the isolated nature of the habitats of Gujjars and the impact of almost daily violence on the LOC as well as conflict in Kashmir valley, life for Gujjar community has become extremely challenging," BJP State Spokesperson Dr Tahir Choudhary said.
He said that the party is concerned for the upliftment of tribal community, there is urgent need for establishment of Gujjar Task Force to prevent such incidents in future. "They always prove their patriotism by helping security forces in eliminating militants, the establishment of Gujjar Task Force will be great step to eliminate militancy from Jammu and Kashmir," he said
He submitted that the setting up Gujjar Task Force would be real tribute of brave-heart Aurangzib of Poonch who had attained martyrdom in the year 2018. Aurangzib's two brothers have already joined the Army to serve the nation.
He also demanded that the special recruitment drive should be organized to engage nomads. They are well aware of mountains routes and will help to security forces.
