| J&K: Normal life remains affected due to strike, landlines restored | | |

Normal life remained crippled due to strike for the 33rd day on Friday in the Kashmir valley, where people were protesting against scrapping of Article 370 and Article 35 A, besides bifurcation of the state.
However, landlines were restored from all telephone exchanges in the valley which were snapped on August 5.
In the downtown and Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) curfew restrictions were back to prevent demonstrations after Friday prayers.
Mobile and internet service of all cellular companies, including Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), remained suspended in the valley.
Train service between Baramulla in north Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region also remained suspended since August 5.
Shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the roads due to strike in the valley, including Srinagar as large number of security forces remained deployed in strength to prevent any demonstration.
Meanwhile, all gates of Jamia Masjid, remained closed since August 5 for devotees. Security forces remained deployed in the Jamia market and adjoining areas to prevent people from entering the worship place.
Public transport, including the buses of State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) remained off the roads.
