Div Com conducts extensive tour of Tehsil Ramnagar

UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER-06:- To take the stock of the developmental works and mega projects in the area, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma conducted an extensive tour of Sub Division Ramnagar here on Thursday.
District Development Commissioner (DDC) Dr. Piyush Singla and a team of Divisional & District Officers of concerned Departments accompanied him.
The concerned officers briefed the Div Com about the progress of various ongoing developmental works under execution in different sectors.
While inspecting the Pingla Mata road, the Div Com directed the concerned to expedite the pace of work and ensure timely completion. The PMGSY and R&B departments were directed to execute works in coordination with concerned Divisional Forest officers and Revenue officers for expediting the construction.
On way, the Div Com also inaugurated passenger sheds constructed by RDD at Riti and Kirmoo Panchayats. Directions were issued to RDD to construct check dams to tap the runoff water in nallas for irrigation purposes.
The Div Com met various public deputations on way and also planted a sapling at Chamuntra Mata Chowk. The objective of conducting the tour was to take the stock of ground situation in different developmental works.
The Div Com appreciated the efforts of district administration for generating maximum awareness about the centrally sponsored schemes among the villagers. He called upon the Panchayat representatives to spread awareness about the schemes to uplift the social economic status of the people.
Meanwhile, DDC Udhampur apprised about various initiatives launched by the district administration and stressed upon the PRIs to come forward and participate actively in these initiatives.
Later, the Div Com convened a meeting with PRIs at Government Degree College, Ramnagar wherein Sarpanchs of several panchayats and councilors of MC Ramnagar apprised the Div Com about various problems being faced by the people. They demanded augmentation of drinking water supply, improvement in power supply scenario, adequate staff in government schools and Hospitals, Up-gradation of schools, Macadamization of roads, Construction of circular road in Ramnagar, Upgradation of Udhampur to Ramnagar & Ramnagar to Basantgarh roads, exploration of tourism potential in Ramnagar, payment of pending MGNREGA wages and completion of unfinished school building etc.
Addressing the PRs, the Div Com highlighted the role of gram sabhas. He informed the participants that government is committed to empower the PRIs and in this regard funds, functions and functionaries have been provided to them and now they need to discharge their responsibilities with full dedication, sincerity and transparency.
Regarding circular road in Ramnagar, the Div Com asked PWD to submit a DPR for the same.
Meanwhile, local artisans showcased their products at the meeting. The Div Com directed KVIC to impart training to them for value addition and modernization of these products. He also asked DDC to provide market for these products.
The Div Com assured the participants that their demands will be resolved on priority.
