Commissioner Secretary PDD reviews power scenario in Kargil

KARGIL, Sept 7: Commissioner Secretary, Power Development Department (PDD) Hirdesh Kumar today convened a meeting with the officers of the department and Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) to review the power supply position, revenue realization and the pace of progress on the works under the ongoing flagship programmes.
Executive Councilor for Power, LAHDC, Kargil Aga Syed Abbass Razvi, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary, Director Finance PDD Muhammad Sultan Malik, Executive Director JKSPDC Mir Muhammad Shahnawaz, Chief Engineer Generation and M&RE Ladakh Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Chief Project Engineer PDC Ladakh Fida Hussain Wazir, General Manager PGCIL Shafat Ahmad, CEO RECPDCL, representatives of NHPC and other officers attended the meeting.
The Commissioner Secretary took a comprehensive review of the progress achieved on the works under the Central Sponsored Schemes like R-APDRP, DDUGJY, Saubhagya, IPDS, PMDP and other related schemes.
It was informed in the meeting that under R-APDRP scheme different improvement works in the district are going on in full swing at a cost of Rs 7.93 crores which are expected to be completed by the end of September, 2019.
The officers further informed that works are also under progress in the district under PMDP (Rural), DDUGJY, IPDS, PMDP (Urban) and Saubhagya at a total cost of Rs 89.16 crores. While as works under PMDP (Rural) and DDUGJY are targeted to be completed by February, 2020 works under IPDS, PMDP (Urban) are to be completed by August 2020.
On the demand of the DC, the Commissioner Secretary also assured that Rs 50 lacs additional Operation and Maintenance funds would be provided to the district this year to carry out the much needed repairs of the electric poles, wires and related machinery. He also said that Rs 48 lacs would also be provided for establishment of substation and lines for Septage Treatment Plant at Kurbathang.
The Commissioner Secretary also directed the NHPC authorities to complete the repairing of damaged networks in the district which were constructed under RGGVY scheme before handing over to PDD while ensuring the completion of the same without any delay.
