Early Times Report
Jammu, Sep 7: An Inspector posted as SHO in Jammu district has able to clinch a monetary deal in a unique way in the police station under his command. According to sources, the Inspector took Rs 1.5 lakh just to enable some accused to meet their family members as well as to get the home cooked food even though the police officer had been transferred from the police station.
"Despite getting the transfer orders, the Inspector got the deal fixed and avail the financial benefit. The officer ensured that he earns as much as he could from the accused persons during his reliving period because he knew he had been transferred and whatever amount he could collect before his exit from the police station.
Sources told that the Inspector was posted in a police station in rural area of district Jammu, however, he was transferred a few days ago but yet to get relieved as the officer was trying to stop his transfer.
Sources said that the Inspector used his legal brain to exert pressure on the accused party as the officer knew that he could help the accused in some way or the other.
"The Inspector applied pressure when he started to receive phone calls to extend help to accused.
In such a situation, he did not let anyone meet the accused. He did not even allow home-made food to them," said sources.
"The family of the accused then approach the officer for negotiating the deal. It was agreed that they will pay Rs 1.5 lakh in lieu of allowing regular meetings and home-cooked food. Apart from this, the accused were taken out of lock-up to meet their family members in the ground inside the police station premises," added sources.
Sources further said following this the Inspector started working on clinching another deal saying that he could provide them relief in the challan by softening it adding that the Inspector again took a large amount from the accused party.
"Inspector manipulated the papers. The emphasis was on changing the statements. He did this swiftly as he knew he had been transferred and could be relieved any time. The officer knew it very well that it is a golden chance to earn quick bucks through this case before making an exit," said sources.
"The smart Inspector did the same. Now, that he has been relieved but before that he completely overturned the case in order to make profits," added sources.
