3 years on, six tourist projects under Swadesh Darshan still incomplete

Jammu, Sept 8: Six tourist projects of Jammu and Kashmir were announced by union government with fanfare in year, 2016 but after lapse of three years from the date of announcement, the prestigious projects are still in limbo.
Official sources informed Early Times that in September, 2016, the then Union ministry of tourism had announced six major tourist projects for Jammu and Kashmir with worth of nearly Rs 600 Crores and had also announced that all the projects would be completed in 36 months from the date of announcement. "Now, the deadline has been almost completed, but unfortunately, these projects is still in limbo", said sources while wishing anonymity.
The six tourist projects namely Development of Himalayan circuit: Jammu-Srinagar-Pahalgam-Anantnag-Salamabad-Uri Kargil-Leh of worth Rs 82.94 Crores, Development of Jammu-Rajouri-Shopian-Pulwama of worth Rs96.36 Crores, Construction of assets in lieu of of those destroyed in 2014 flood in Jammu and Kashmir of worth Rs 90.95 Crores, Mantalai-Sudmahadev-Patnitop of worth Rs 97.82 Crores, Gulmarg-Kupwara-Baramula-Leh circuit of worth Rs 96.93 Crores and Anantnag-Kishtwar-Pahalgam-Ranjit Sagar-Dam were announced in financial year 2016-17 and under the same project, the major component of the project were Restaurant and food court, multipurpose hall, Amusement park, associated infrastructure, basic amenities, signage, sound and Light show, Ice skating ring etc.
Sources further said that however, the government had announced 36 months tenure for completion of these projects but slow funding by the union government, the projects are executing on snail's pace, resulting, the tourists have been getting deprived to get facilities at these tourist spots. "However, the Union government had announced 96.39 Crores for Anantnag-Kishtwar-Pahalgam-Ranjit Sagar-Dam but against the sanctioned money, by the end of March 2019 the government released only 367 Crores so far the project, resulting, the major component of the project like tourist reception/facilities centre and water sport facilities facilities are still in limbo", said sources.
