Early Times Report

Rajouri, Sept 9: With an aim to sensitize masses regarding amended Motor Vehicles Act which especially includes hike in imposing fine for violations, Rajouri Police held a series of events at multiple locations across Rajouri district.
These events were held simultaneously at Gujjar Mandi, Old Bus Stand, Salani Bridge, Jawahar Nagar areas of Police Station Rajouri and at all other Police Stations by concerned SHOs and their Supervisory Officers. Trams of police headed by Additional SP Liaqat Ali, DySP Headquarters Surinder Khadyal, DySP PC Pranav Mahajan, DySP DAR Chowdhary Latif, SHO Rajouri Sameer Jillani under the overall supervision of SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas carried the awareness program.
During these events held at busy public places, masses were made aware of all the aspects of the amended MV Act. Specially designed pamphlets having information of all the amendments were also distributed among people and were pasted on passenger and goods carrier vehicles.
Drivers were sensitized to follow traffic norms in spirit to avoid violation as the same will draw strict action under amended provisions of Motor Vehicles Act.
SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas appealed all the guardians and parents to prevent their minor children from driving as the same violation will now only be fined but guardians and parents could be awarded imprisonment of three years. He said that roads can only be made safer if people themselves understand the responsibility of being the law-abiding citizen.
