LEH, Sept 10: Youm-e-Ashura was observed across the Leh district to pay tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (A.S.), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), and his companions for their ultimate sacrifice in the battle of Karbala. Thousands of people thronged Leh town and participated in Ashura processions. The mourning processions started from Jama Masjid Chhutey-Rangthak passing through Leh main Bazar and concluded at Immam Bargha Leh and Balkhang Chowk. Various speakers, on the occasion, urged people to be familiar with the philosophical values of Karbala which represents the everlasting stance of truth against falsehood and humanity's struggle against injustice, oppression and cruelty, the cause for which Imam Hussein (A.S.) was martyred. Blood donation camps were also organized in which hundreds of volunteers contributed their blood as a mark of respect to the supreme sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS). District Administration had made adequate arrangements for the Yum-e-Ashura in terms of power, drinking water, medicare and sanitation in the town and also Police Department had maintained traffic regulation that ensured smooth conclusion of Ashura processions in Leh district. |
