| ABVP remembers Swami Vivekananda on 126th years of Chicago Speech | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 11: A programme was organized by ABVP Jammu University to remember Swami Vivekananda on 126th year of his historic Chicago speech
Prof Vivek Kumar (Vivekananda Chair, Central University of Jammu) was the chief speaker on the occasion.
Welcome address to the students was presented by Shubham Amar, Jammu University president ABVP in which he said that Swami Vivekananda was the first youth sanyasi who presented India in the best way across the world. He said that Swami Vivekananda is idol of ABVP and we all must read him once in our lifetime especially during the young age. Further, Dr Vivek Kumar said that Vivekananda is a role model not only for the youth in India but throughout the world adding that he has been widely followed by spiritually enlightened and those seeking to be spiritually enlightened. He said that when in the World Religions Conference in 1893 was attended by Swami ji he was only given 2 minutes to speak but he spoke for 2 hours as the people started loving his words and those historic words of "Brothers and Sisters of America" are still very widely appreciated. He said that he had risen in the times when our motherland was going through all the atrocities and was in a very poor condition. But Vivekananda gave a completely new image of this country and gave the idea of India. |
