Swachh Bharat Jan Andolan launched in Samba

SAMBA, Sept 11: Deputy Commissioner Rohit Khajuria today flagged off plastic waste collecting vehicles to mark the launch of Swachh Bharat Jan Andolan to make the district Samba plastic free.
A bouquet of activities has been envisaged under the Jan-Andolan against plastic waste which will continue till October 27, 2019.
The Deputy Commissioner said that plastic waste collecting vehicles will ply in across the Samba district and collect the waste material in a segregated form for their proper disposal at designated land fill sites. He exhorted upon the district officers to promote and exhibit the eco-friendly carry bags, discarding the use of plastic besides awareness generation against use of plastic among locals.
Deputy Commissioner laid emphases upon making district waste free and thus promoting a sustainable growth. He directed Municipal Committees for collecting the waste material in a segregated form and also promote eco-friendly alternatives for plastic.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Arvind Kotwal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Vikas Gupta, Programme Officer (ICDS) Jyoti Salathia, Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Kulbhushan Khajuria, District Panchayat Officer Piyush Dhotra besides other district officers were also present.
