POONCH, Sept 12: District Development Commissioner Poonch Rahul Yadav today chaired a meeting here to review preparation for "PLASTIC FREE COMPAIGN (SWACHHATA HI SEVA)".
ACD Poonch, SDM Surankote, SDM Mendhar, CMO, CEO Municipality, CEO education, District Social welfare Officer, Tehsildar's, DPO beside all district and sectoral officer were present.
The DDC discussed the modalities and listed activities for making the people aware about the Plastic waste Free Campaign. He said that the main objective of the campaign is to discourage the use of polythens carry- bags and the single use plastic.
The officers shared their views on the challenges and potential solutions of Plastic waste. The meeting decided that the preparation and awareness generation will be organised from September 11 to October 01, 2019, while collection of plastic waste will be conducted on Oct 2, 2019 and disposal of plastic waste on scientific lines will commence from October 3 and continue till October 27, 2019. It was further decided that all concerned officers shall launch a series of initiatives to generate awareness towards discontinuing the use of all single use plastic.
The DDC stressed on creating awareness among children by organising rallies, painting & quiz competitions, besides conducting sanitation drives in schools and colleges during Swachhta Hi Sewa Campaign. He also said that one district officer will sensitize the people of each ward about the ill effects of polythene and plastic. |
