VCs JU, CUJ, several deputations meet Advisor Ganai

JAMMU, Sept 12: Vice Chancellor, Jammu University, Prof Manoj K. Dhar and Vice Chancellor, Cluster University Jammu, Prof Anju Bhasin met Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, here today.
The Vice-Chancellors briefed the Advisor about several important academic and administrative matters relating to the functioning of the Universities.
The VC JU discussed issues of the functioning and infrastructure development of offsite campuses including those functioning at Poonch and Kishtwar.
The Advisor asked the Vice-Chancellor of Cluster University to hold University Council meet on regular intervals.
Later, the Advisor Ganai chaired a meeting to review the functioning of the departments under his charge.
Director Floriculture Babila Rakwal, Director FCS&CA, Jatinder Singh, Additional Registrar Cooperative Department Kusum Badyal, Deputy Directors Tourism Ansuya Jamwal and Subah Mehta besides senior officers of Legal Metrology department were present in the meeting.
Reviewing their performance, the Advisor asked all the departments to adopt pro-active approach for execution of their duties.
With regard to Floriculture and Tourism departments, it was informed that the allotment for the installation of musical fountain at Bagh-e-Bahu has been completed and execution of work on the project would be started in this month.
Officers of Tourism Department apprised the Advisor about the arrangements made for annual Katra Navratra Festival-2019. It was informed that the Festival would start from September 29 and continue till October 7. The Advisor asked the Tourism department to give wide publicity to attract maximum visitors from across the country and abroad.
While reviewing the performance of FCS&CA Department, the Advisor was informed that food grains for the month of September have already been distributed to the consumers. The Advisor asked Director FCS&CA to personally visit the far flung and remote areas to redress public concerns.
Meanwhile, several deputations met Advisor Khurshid Ahmed Ganai here at Circuit house, Canal Road and apprised him about their issues, grievances and sought his intervention in redressal of the same.
A delegation of All J&K Co-op Bank Employees Union raised its issues including release of pending increments and dearness allowances and many others.
Another delegation of J&K College Academics Arrangement Lecturers Association raised the issue of their engagement.
Similarly, a delegation of J&K College Teacher Association demanded up-gradation of infrastructure in constituent colleges of Cluster University of Jammu. They also raised the issue of change in timings from 9 am to 5 pm in constituent colleges of CLUJ.
Responding to the demands, the Advisor assured that all genuine grievances, demands raised would be looked into and necessary action would be taken.
Earlier, the Advisor Ganai convened a meeting with the Principals of Government Degree Colleges and reviewed the status of enrolment of students, sanctioned teaching and non teaching staff besides infrastructure development in the government degree colleges including newly established colleges.
The Advisor informed the meeting that the process for creation of new posts and allied infrastructure for the new degree colleges is on for smooth functioning of these institutions.
