Jammu, Sept 12: 15 Officer Trainees of the 2017 batch of Indian Information Service, Group A, today successfully completed their two years Induction Training at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in New Delhi. They will now join different media units of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, beginning their journey as Government Communication Officers. Secretary I&B, Amit Khare was the Chief Guest at the Valedictory Function, which was attended by all the media heads including Sitanshu Kar of PIB, Sadhana Rout of Publications Division, Satyendra Prakash of Bureau of Outreach Communication, Mayank Agrawal of DD News among others. Speaking on the occasion, Amit Khare stressed upon the importance of continuous training and skill upgradation during the career of an officer. Quoting from the famous book "What They Don't Teach You At The Harvard Business School" he said beyond the formal training, frequent peer group interactions provide for a refreshing learning experience. Khare said IIS officers function as communication officers, and as such have an important role to play in the government system. He asked the officers to be tech-savvy and keep pace with the rapidly changing information and communication scenario. "The challenge is to respond swiftly and firmly on real time basis" he added.
