Jammu, Sept 14: Cluster University of Jammu organized an Induction Cum Interaction Programme for the newly admitted students to the PGI Schools of the university. V.K.Singh, IPS, DG Prison, Fire & Emergency Services was the keynote speaker for the programme. The programme commenced with the lighting of traditional lamp by the dignitaries. Prof. Anju Bhasin, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu in her inaugural address opined that the university puts academic values high on agenda for discussion and debate and promotes research and education. She urged the students to imbibe the values of tolerance, empathy, freedom of speech, inclusiveness and empowerment as these enable us to understand our past, present and to prepare for the future. She advised them to take responsibility for learning, utilise the time spent at campus to the fullest and embrace difference. She also affirmed that CUJ envisions to nurture a community of productive intellectuals who are both socially sensitized and morally upright. Dr. Twinkle Suri, Dean Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu extended a zealous welcome to the young learners at the Induction Ceremony. V.K. Singh, DG Prison, Fire & Emergency Services, the Keynote Speaker at the event detailed the concept of social and emotional learning, an umbrella term referring to students' acquisition of skills to recognize and manage emotions, develop care and concern for others, make responsible decisions, establish positive relationships and handle challenges. Prof. Poonam Dhawan, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Mushtaq Ahmed Lone, Controller Examinations, Deans of faculties, Coordinators and faculty of various Schools, were present at the function. A formal vote of thanks was given by Dr. Banpreet Kour, Associate Dean Students Welfare, CUJ. Dr. Eva Sharma along with Prerna from the School of Humanities and Liberal Arts compered the proceedings of the event. |
