Director Industries Anoo Malhotra, Ramesh Kumar Additional Secretary I&C Department and Ravinder Kumar MD J&K SIDCO introduced the new office bearers of the association including Vikram Gupta, General Secretary Managing Partner Radisson Blu, Sidharth Daluja Secretary, MD Lemon Tree, Kuldeep Wahi, Patron, MD Jewel Hotel and Siddhant Chowdhary, Director Ramada Jammu City Centre. The delegation headed by Raju Chowdhary spoke at length with the officers of Industries department headed by Navin Choudhary and stressed at this important juncture when the state has been converted into a Union Territory and with the Central Government's firm resolve to bring J&K into fore front of investments and progress, many new industrial ventures are expected to come into the state. For this, a new package is being promised by the government. It was pointed out that the hotels in Jammu are dependent on business of corporate travelers and with the expected new investments, the hotel sector which has been undergoing extreme difficulties for the last two months is looking forward to a new dawn. Raju Chowdhary pointed out that last year for the first time Hotels which are a thrust industry in J&K were granted power at the rate of industrial tariff. But unfortunately this power tariff was withdrawn from 1st of April and again commercial power tariff is being charged. It was stressed that this issue needs to be addressed immediately by the government headed by the Governor. In the new upcoming package, it was stressed that the hotels should be brought to the tax structure which was existing pre GST regime, which was 5% on the F&B bill and zero Tax on Room tariff. This will go a long way in attracting visitors from all over India to come to the state. The generator subsidy which used to be given to new hotels has been withdrawn. It was stressed that the cases already processed should be honoured and the subsidy should be restarted.
