Jammu, Sept 14: On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Martyrdom of Pt. Tikalal Taploo, Senior Kashmiri Pandit leader and state BJP Senior Vice President, while the displaced Kashmiri Pandits observed this day throughout the globe, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, BJP State Spokesperson on Kashmir Affairs paid a visit to the historic Sheetalnath grounds in Srinagar-Kashmir. He along with a group of Kashmiri Hindu activists comprising among others Rakesh Kaul, Mattan TAC Member, Vir Saraf, Incharge BJP South Kashmir, Satish Kumar Thakur and Sanjeet Singh Billowria offered floral tributes to the martyrs at "Shaheedi-Sthal" at the Sheetalnath Grounds. They also cleansed the Samadhi with the holy water of Vitasta.
It was on 13th September 1989 that Adv. Tikalal Taploo was brutally assassinated by three terrorists of JKLF outside his residence in Chikral-Mohalla in the Downtown while he was leaving to attend his duties in the J&K High Court, Srinagar. His dead body was kept on the podium of the historic Sheetalnath for a view of the public up to 14th September 2019 and was consigned to the holy fire on the same day. A record number of people joined his funeral procession up to the Karannagar 'shamshan-bhumi'. |
