Early Times Report RAMBAN Sept 14: District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) headed by the District Magistrate (DM), Nazim Zia Khan today reviewed the implementation of Bio-Medical Waste (BMW) management and handling here in the district. CMO, Dr. Janak Raj, Dy. CMO, Dr. Iqbal Bhat, Medical Superintendent,District Hospital (DH) Ramban, District Officer (DO), State Pollution Control Board (SPCB),XEN PHE,and various concerned officers attended the meeting. The DLMC oversees the implementation of Bio-Medical Waste Management and handling at the district level. The DM highlighted the importance of Bio-Medical Waste Management for reducing the serious health implications. He directed the CMO and BMOs to summit online applications of all the health intuitions of their respective jurisdictions for taking consent and authorisation from concerned department. They were further directed to constitute committees at block level to ensure implementation of the Act, especially for ensuring segregation of Bio-medical waste from other solid and liquid waste in health institutions as per set guidelines. The CMO was also directed to explore the possibility for Bio-Medical Waste (BMW) management at local level in consultation with agencies working in capital cities for the purpose. |
