JCCI defers Jammu bandh call after Guv's invite for meeting

JAMMU, Sept 14: Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) has decided to defer its Jammu Bandh call on September 16 after the Governor invited Chamber and its supporting associations for a meeting in Srinagar on September 19.
On the request of District Administration, the JCCI president Rakesh Gupta, TS Wazir, Chairman J&K Transport Welfare Association and Rajesh Sharma, Chairman J&K Kissan Council accompanied by office bearers of JCCI and Transport Associations met the Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sushma Chauhan and SSP Jammu Tajinder Pal Singh.
The Deputy Commissioner conveyed the message of the Governor to the visiting delegation that a meeting has been fixed on September 19 in Srinagar by the Governor where in the stakeholders shall be invited in presence of the concerned officers of the departments regarding which the issues and demands have been raised for which the Jammu bandh was announced for September 16. After threadbare discussions, the JCCI President Rakesh Gupta, TS Wazir, Chairman J&K Transport Welfare Association and Rajesh Sharma, Chairman J&K Kissan Council urged that in future before taking any policy decisions the stakeholders must be consulted and then only decisions taken. On the assurance of the Governor as conveyed by the District Administration it was decided to defer the Jammu Bandh call for September 16 and that future course of action shall only be decided in case the genuine demands in question are not addressed and accepted.
